Wedding of the week: Maddiston couple Heather Ferguson and Barry Wardrope

THE DETAILS: Heather Ferguson (43) is a planner for Dolby Vivisol in Stirling, while Barry Wardrope (45), is an operations technician at Petroineos in Grangemouth. The couple live in Maddiston.

HOW THEY MET: The pair met online in 2008, exchanged numbers and haven’t stopped talking since.

THE PROPOSAL: Barry said the proposal was ‘long overdue’ and “unfortunately not the most romantic as she couldn’t wait to get the ring on her finger”.

THE WEDDING: The couple were married on March 21, 2020 at Falkirk Registry Office. They had only started planning ten weeks prior. Due to the coronavirus pandemic the reception at the Zetland Lodge in Grangemouth was cancelled, but they plan to have a big party to celebrate once the global situation has calmed down.

THE BRIDAL PARTY: Heather’s chief bridesmaid was sister-in-law Alex Ferguson and her other bridesmaid was friend Geraldine Riddell. Heather was given away by her son Stewart Ferguson. Barry’s best men were his two sons Robbie and James.

THE HONEYMOON: The happy couple are still hoping to have their honeymoon to Florida in September.

THANKS: Barry and Heather would like to thank the close family members who made their day special given the circumstances.
