Animal welfare charity the Scottish SPCA rushed to an industrial estate in Denny after they received a call that a deer was trapped on the premises.

The SSPCA was alerted to the young male deer’s plight on February 12 by a concerned member of the public.

Emma Chisholm, SSPCA animal rescue officer, said: “The caller contacted us after they had already tried encouraging the deer to leave of its own accord. Despite leaving the gates to the estate open for several days and trying to herd it out, nothing had worked.

“The industrial estate is also next to a busy road so there were concerns for the deer’s safety should it become distressed and run into the traffic. Due to the large area the estate covers, I enlisted the help of two colleagues to help me corner the deer.

“Together we managed to catch him and remove him from the premises. We checked him over and were delighted to find that he was completely uninjured by his ordeal.

“We took the deer to a nearby field and released him. It’s always lovely to be part of a rescue that has a happy ending like this one.

“We are very grateful to the member of the public who alerted us to the deer, they were very helpful with this successful rescue.”
