With Falkirk traditionally having a strong turnout at Remembrance events, Provost William Buchanan is calling on locals to mark the two minute silence from their homes to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Provost William Buchanan said: “In light of the pandemic, the Act of Remembrance will be different this year.

“The Level 3 status of Falkirk means that no outdoor events are currently permitted, therefore in place of the normal ceremony, I will attend alone and lay a wreath.

“Organisations wishing to pay respect to the fallen can do so by laying wreaths independently over the course of the day following social distancing guidelines, ensuring that no more than 6 people from 2 different households are present.

“We would encourage the public to mark the two minute silence at home at 11.00am.”
