Patricia Stewart, who talked to photographer Michael Gillen about her ordeal, fell and hit her head outside her home in Farm Street, Bainsford, yesterday and the postman failed to provide even a token gesture of assistance.

The incident was captured on a doorbell camera and Patricia's relatives viewed the footage with a mixture of disbelief and disgust.

In the footage the postman looks down at her and can be heard saying “I can’t help you pal”, mentioning something about being “knackered” and then just walks away.

Thankfully a Hermes delivery worker Karolina Domska (22) was on hand to help.

Royal Mail apologised to Patricia and stated it was now investigating the incident.

A spokesperson said: “We expect the highest standards of behaviour from our people while out on deliveries and collections at all times.”
