Support network across Falkirk to help people access vital services

Falkirk Council says its Support for People service is continuing to help people access essential services including food and medicines.

The team can also organise support for people suffering loneliness, as feedback from community volunteers is highlighting that many people are struggling with mental wellbeing and isolation.

Staff will also be calling people who have been asked to self-isolate by Public Health Scotland to offer support.

Calls to the service were steady over the festive period but there has been an increase in numbers this week.

The Scottish Government has said it does not plan to restart providing food boxes for people shielding, as it did in the first lockdown.

Instead, people can be registered for priority online shopping slots. Anyone who is struggling to buy food financially can be referred to a community food provider.
