They gave away hundreds of free ‘goody bags’ for elderly people, containing a facemask, anti-bacterial hand gel and cleaning wipes which they even delivered to customers who were unable to collect them in person.

Their generous deed cost them thousands of pounds of their own money.

Asiyah said: “I was out and I met an old woman; she was crying because she had been to the supermarket and there was no hand wash. I feel it is not fair on elderly people.”

Jawad said they would continue to go that extra mile for customers for however long the cornoavirus lockdown continues.

Their efforts were also marked by the emergency services during a clap for carers in April when they turned up to applaud the shopkeepers.
