The original Kelpies Supernova night-time run – a fun-packed, glow-stick lit affair – had to be postponed earlier this year due to Covid restrictions.

But now organisers are hoping Falkirk Bairns will #glowvirtual as they lace up their trainers and run the Supernova Virtual Winter Challenge – at their own time and in their own place – to help good causes out in this toughest of years.

And it couldn’t be easier … you can run, jog or walk on your own, in your own family bubble or socially distanced with other friends and families.

The Supernova Virtual Winter Challenge is the perfect antidote to dark mornings and evenings, and the fitness pick-me-up we could all be looking for.

Participants can choose what distance they plan to run, jog or walk as part of their Supernova Virtual Winter Challenge, but organisers suggest 5km as a really good start to keep fit, breathe in some fresh crisp air, and keep positive and focused during these colder months.

Runners can complete their challenge before February 28 2021.

Rules? What rules? You can complete your challenge in one day or over multiple days - it’s your challenge and your rules! When runners sign up to the challenge, organisers will immediately post out your Supernova pack and this will arrive within 10 working days.Participants can complete their challenge anywhere they like and on a date that suits them.

Who can join in?

You don’t have to be an experienced runner (although you may have taken part in a previous Supernova run), you might be a complete lockdown newbie to running or you could be looking for something fun for all the family to do.

Let the Supernova Virtual Winter Challenge help you stay positive; it’s a great way to brighten up the winter months, and you can wrap up warm, enjoy the outdoors and choose a safe route to run.

Where can I take part?

With travel beyond our own council currently either restricted or not advised, it’s lucky that living in the Falkirk area we have so many marvellous places right on our doorstep … run round the Kelpies, explore Callendar Park, jog along the Forth and Clyde Canal, explore the John Muir Trail at Bo’ness, marvel at the Dunmore Pineapple or take to the tracks and trails around the many parks in the area.

Wherever you choose, get your glow on and #glowvirtual to be seen as you run.

Which charity can I support?

Running in aid of a good cause is a great motivator … and there are many associated with the Supernova Virtual Winter Challenge. You can run for CRUK, or one of the many affiliate charities - whichever you choose, your money will be appreciated more than ever before this year.
