See the gridlock on Grangemouth Road at Kinneil as cars queue for recycling centre

Massive lines of cars and vans lined the road at Kinneil Kerse Recycling Centre this morning as the facility re-opened to residents.

The queues started forming just before 8am and many people on the road to the recycling centre decided to turn around and head for home rather than wait in the tailbacks.

Local bus services heading for Edinburgh also got caught in the gridlock as traffic came to a standstill.

It was a similar story at Roughmute in Bonnybridge, with reports of two-mile long tailbacks.

The A883 to Falkirk has now been closed to traffic with diversions through Bonnybridge available to avoid Roughmute.
