Scout Logan has Royal seal of approval

Logan Henderson (20) has been with the organisation since the age of five and has had many firsts with the 9th Dunipace Scout Group including the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and Chief Scout’s bronze, gold and diamond awards.

Currently an adult leader, he studies painting at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen and hopes to become an art teacher.

Logan said: “I am overwhelmed and honoured that I have been able to get this award with the help of friends and family who have supported me through this.

“It’s something I was able to get because I had done all this work, it’s not really something you set out to get.”

Scout leader and father, Gordon Henderson, explained how proud and excited everyone in the local Scout group are of Logan’s award.

Only one person in Stirlingshire has attained the accolade in 20 years and Logan is the first from Dunipace.

Gordon said: “The award is the highest award that you can get in scouting for young people.

“It is fantastic that we have someone from Dunipace getting the award and I’m hoping that he is aspiring our next group of youngsters coming through to go on and get the award.”

Logan had his award presented to him last Friday by Alan Simpson, Lord Lieutenant of Stirling and Falkirk, but will head down to Windsor Castle on Sunday, April 23 to receive the official seal of approval from the Queen.
