Salmonella fears for Falkirk shoppers as supermarkets recall food products

Supermarkets in the Falkirk area – including Asda, Tesco and Co-op – have urgently recalled a number of their products following food safety concerns.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has called for the a large number of products, sold in UK supermarkets, to be returned including a range of chilled and frozen seafood items which could possibly be contaminated with salmonella and other items which may contain listeria.

If you have purchased any of the following items you should return them to the respective stores straight away.

Co-op – Co-op Cooked Mussels (chilled), pack size 140g, all best before date codes and Co-op Cooked Seafood Selection (frozen), pack size 300g, all best before date codes.

Asda – Asda Seafood Selection (Mussels, Seafood Bites and King Prawns) (chilled), pack size 240g, best before dates: 22, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 January 2021 and

Asda Cooked Mussels (chilled), pack size 150g, best before dates: 22, 23, 24, 26, 26, 27 and 28 January 2021.

Tesco – Tesco Finest Taleggio 200g because it contains Listeria monocytogenes and Tesco Finest Belgian Dark Chocolate Brazil Nuts, which has been incorrectly packed with Tesco Finest Festive Fruit and Nut Selection which contains sulphur dioxide that is not mentioned on the label making it a possible health risk – batch code is L0075004 and 16 Spicy Chorizo Slices 80g because the product contains Listeria monocytogenes.

Lidl – Red Hen Frozen Chicken products may contain salmonella including Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets and Red Hen Southern Fried Chicken Pops.
