A group of family and friends ignored an almost constant downpour to pound out the miles on a mighty fitness challenge for a very special toddler last weekend.
Three-year-old Millie McColl, from Airth, is fighting against stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a tumour of the nervous system, and a 50-strong team, which included Millie’s mum Lynsey, raised money for the Millie’s Journey charity at Grangemouth Stadium on Sunday.
Participants were supposed to run a half marathon around the perimeter of the Kelpies at the Helix, but the weather meant the event was moved to the stadium, where the runners covered their distances in some horrible conditions, before heading inside to complete 1300 burpees – a strenuous aerobic exercise – to coin in more cash for Millie.
Organiser Colin Niblo said: “We’ve had a huge response from the local community, with a number of clubs and businesses taking part.”
