It's an exciting moment for members of the Community Green Initiative (CGI), who have led the project to transform the park over many years, working with other local people and organisations.

Donna Heaney, chair of CGI, said: “The Gala Park is a fantastic resource for our community, providing almost eight hectares of greenspace adjacent to the River Carron.

"The local community has worked very hard over the last 10 years to bring together a masterplan for improvements to the park.

“We all want it to be a welcoming, accessible place at the heart of our community that all of us love and are proud of – whether it’s to play football, or just take in the beauty and tranquillity of the natural environment that it affords.

Councillor Robert Spears, portfolio holder for Culture, Leisure and Tourism at Falkirk Council, said: “By working together, the project is set to deliver meaningful improvements that will create an attractive and accessible greenspace that all locals can enjoy.”
