The charity, which was established in 1996, received the money from the government’s community wellbeing fund, which is supported by STV Children’s Appeal.

Talking to Falkirk Council and local housing associations, FHP is looking to identify the people who are in the most urgent need of help.

Jim Nicol, FHP trustee, said: “One of the things we are looking at is what has happened to the rough sleepers during this coronavirus crisis and what their needs are. These people don’t have anything at all so we need to proved essential items and clothing for them.

“We are also looking to use the money to help homeless people who are being resettled. We can assist at an early stage of their tenancy and get them some essential items. The idea is to get the money we have received out there as quickly as possible and help as many people as we can.”

FHP helps individuals and families move on from homelessness by providing starter packs to those who have newly acquired tenancies and giving them help, advice and support on homelessness issues.

Over the years the project has built up effective relationships with clients, landlords, partner agencies and sponsors to enable it to achieve its aims.

Jim said: “We support the Homelessness Task Force principle everyone in Scotland should have dry, warm, affordable and secure housing and that good housing is crucial to family life, physical and mental health, child development, employment opportunities and the maintenance of sustainable communities.”
