The Post Office confirmed the closure – which it stated was temporary – in correspondence to customers in the area today.

It stated: “Regrettably, following the resignation of the operator of the partner service and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use, the branch at 17 to 20 Charlotte Dundas Court, Grangemouth will be closing temporarily on Saturday, February 6 at noon.

“We would like to assure you we are working hard to keep any period of closure to a minimum and we are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office service to the local community.
