Polmont Playgroup, based in Greenpark Community Centre, Greenpark Drive, now have a re-opening date and hope to have the wee ones back from Monday, April 26.

To mark this good news, the group is running a community virtual balloon race competition, where participants can compete against each other and win a prize – which the group hopes could be donated by a local business if possible.

The virtual race works in the same way as an actual helium balloon race, except these balloons fly around their own virtual island rather than in Earth’s atmosphere – so it’s far more environmentally friendly and kinder to wildlife too.

A Polmont Playgroup spokesperson said: “We were hoping for a big ticket item to encourage more balloon sales, as well as second and third place prizes. So far we have individuals and whole families signed up to compete against each other and even two family dogs.”

If any local firms want to support the event with prizes or buy a balloon they can visit the site below for more details.
