Piper Robbie hits the right notes with '¨T in the Park crowds

The Falkirk teenager was chosen to perform a solo after the headline act, the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

He played Flower of Scotland and had the crowd enthusiastically singing along.

Along with 24 other members of his school pipe band, Strathallan, the 15-year-old had been opening Scotand’s top music event each day.

The pipe band was invited to play by festival organiser Geoff Ellis for the second year running.

Craig Muirhead, piping instructor at Strathallan and member of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and ScottishPower Pipe Band, said: “Robbie has worked hard as a member of the pipe band and has consistently played at a high level. He

has won national competitions and is also very popular within the band itself. I knew that he would do a

great job on stage.”

Robbie, a former Falkirk High pupil, won a music scholarship to Strathallan, one of Scotland’s top independent schools, and started there last September.

He came second at the Senior Scottish Schools Championships and won the National Piping Centre Championships.
