Outstanding Scout gets highest award

Years of service to the Scouting movement were rewarded with the presentation of the organisation's highest award.

Scott Walton (23), assistant Scout leader of 27th Bonnybridge Scouts, was presented with the Queen’s Scout Award by Lord Lieutenant Marjory McLachlan.

The Ineos employee from Bonnybridge also received the Larry McLaren Shield for Outstanding Achievement from Group Scout Leader Margaret Plank.

The presentation was one of several taking place at the group’s 105th AGM, attended by Forth Region Scout Commissioner Len Jamieson, Falkirk District Scout Commissioner Ann Gilchrist and family and friends.

The Chief Scout Bronze Award was presented to Finlay Byrne, Aimee Cameron and Matthew Wright, with Aimee receiving Beaver of the Year.

Chief Scout Silver awards were presented to S. Bolton, A. Wright, C. Walford, J. Finlay and K. McIlroy, while the Chief Scout award was presented to C. McArthur and Scout of the Year to Owen McElroy.

Russell Smith received a quaich thanking him for his 14 years’ service as chairman and a Thanks Badge went to Leslie Grant for six years as secretary.

Celebration cakes to mark 30 years of Beaver Scouts and 100 years of Cub Scouts were lit and, after singing Happy Birthday, the oldest and youngest Beaver and Cub blew out the candles.
