NHS Forth Valley staff take part in VE Day commemorations

Communities across Falkirk district paused at 11am today to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

Although the majority of public events were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, people were encouraged to stop and pause in their homes and workplaces.

Staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital took part in the national two minute silence before watching a video of Forth Valley Nurses Choir singing We’ll Meet Again, the Second World War song made famous by Dame Vera Lynn.

There was also a message from Professor Angela Wallace, NHS Forth Valley’s Nurse Director to mark International Week of Nurses across the world.

Afterwards they were treated to tea and cakes to mark the day victory was declared in Europe 75 years ago.
