When a retaining wall bordering the cemetery and Falkirik Crematorium needed replaced, it was decided to install a 160 metre long memorial feature.

Costing £227,000, the work was delayed by Covid-19 but is now almost complete.

The plaques will be an option for those who perhaps don’t have a traditional grave or headstone to visit.

The next stage, when the wall is finished, will offer a new service for the erection of small memorial plaques on the wall at a cost still to be determined.

This service, still to be finalised, would allow mourners to commemorate their loved ones who perhaps have been cremated but have no grave or headstone to visit.

A spokesperson for Falkirk Council’s bereavement services said: “This creates another place for bereaved families to visit and remember their loved ones.”
