Mariner Centre swimmers need to book their slot

People are being asked to book their slots at a popular swimming pool.

This weekend Falkirk Community Trust is introducing pre-booked sessions for all customers looking to swim at the Mariner Centre in Camelon.

And it is going to continue at weekends only for the immediate future.

The move comes after the trust was recently put posts on social media encouraging swimmers to use its pools in Grangemouth and Bo’ness after the Camelon pool became incredibly busy.

To book a 40 minute swim session this Saturday and Sunday, customers should call the bookings telephone number on 01324 503750 – this includes existing Health & Fitness members and monthly swim pass holders.

All sessions should be paid for at the time of booking.

On the day the trust has asked swimmers to come “beach ready” to make the changing process as easy as possible and, although a pre-swim rinse is available, there will be no post-swim showers in operation.

A spokesperson for Falkirk Community Trust said: “As a result of changes to government guidance regarding social distancing put in place from Boxing Day, we have been restricting capacities in buildings accordingly.

“The Mariner Centre did not previously have a pre-booking policy for swim sessions, however following high demand for swimming last weekend and reviewing customer and staff feedback, we have chosen to implement a booking process for weekend swimming (pre-booking not required Monday-Friday).

“The new system will help manage the flow of customers, minimise any queues forming, and avoid disappointing customers who have to wait until space is available because the venue is at capacity.

“At this time, we do not intend to impose a similar booking process at our Grangemouth and Bo’ness pools as customer demand has been lower at these facilities, and we will continue to promote these as alternative options if the Mariner Centre pool does become fully booked.”
