Lee is back fighting fit

Doctors discovered the 12-year-old from Larbert had Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma earlier this year, but despite several hospital stays for treatment, he is already raising money for charities to help others.

Mum Jane revealed the family were stunned when Lee became ill, but the tiny fighter was always determined to win his biggest fight and last month was given the all clear.

She said: “He had a really aggressive form and the treatment was just as aggressive but he’s come through it.”

Lee, who attended Stenhousemuir Primary and starts Larbert High in August, is a member of Jonesy’s Boxing Club in Plean. He is already an Eastern District and Scottish Novice champion for his age group with nine wins to his credit.

Jane added: “There has been a host of professional and amateur boxers who have supported Lee on his journey to fight this terrible disease. Carl Frampton dedicated his title fight to Lee earlier this year.”

Boxing champion Tyson Fury sent the youngster autographed gloves and WBC international heavyweight champion Antony Joshua sent him a message of support via Twitter.

The family are also season ticket holders at Ibrox and as well as receiving get well soon messages from Rangers manager Mark Warburton and his players, the youngster was also invited to the club’s training ground.

Lee, with the support of mum and dad Richard, along with sisters Hayley (21) and Amy (20), is now busy fundraising for the DreamMaker Foundation and Glasgow Children’s Hospital where he was treated.

A bingo in the Plough Hotel two weeks ago has helped swell the total to over £3000.
