Margaret Sayers (65) had to get antibiotics from her doctor following the incident which happened on Wednesday, September 9, at around 3.30pm as she walked with her husband.

She said: “We had just turned the corner to come up the middle path back towards Bo’ness when three British bulldogs came from nowhere. They were all around us, one bit my thigh, tearing my jeans.

“This was an unprovoked attack and my husband had to keep kicking it to get off me. It was terrifying, especially with three of them all round you.

“There were three people who arrived later, a woman and two men. One of the men said ‘oh she is a mum they are her pups’ but they were large stocky dogs not small cute pups. The woman grabbed the one who bit me and said she knows she has done wrong.

“The dogs should have been on a lead, but they weren’t, and at no point did the owners say sorry at all.”

Although shaken by the incident Margaret is glad she only suffered minor injuries, but dreads to think what would have happened to a child. “A kid wouldn’t stand a chance with those dogs,” she said.

“I had to get antibiotics from the doctor and have reported it to the police.

“I just want to make people aware of this so it can prevent another incident which could be much worse.

“I really just want to warn people to be vigilant, especially kids in pushchairs and toddlers walking in the estate.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “On September 9, 2020, we received a report of an incident involving a woman and a dog within Kinneil Estate, Bo’ness.

“Enquiries are continuing.”
