Alex Burnett and Jamie Munro were awarded the ‘George Hall Achievement Award’ by the Grangemouth company, marking the first time since its inauguration in 2016 it has been shared.

The fourth year process technicians’ commitment to their apprenticeship left bosses unable to split the pair when choosing a suitable recipient.

After Ineos employee George Hall died in service, his family donated an award in his name to be presented on an annual basis to a modern apprentice.

“In speaking with their supervisors, I have learned that in the short time that Alex and Jamie have been working with Ineos they have already demonstrated similar traits to those that George exhibited during his time on-site.

“I am sure that George would have been so pleased that the quality of the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme is continuing to be upheld and that Jamie and Alex are worthy recipients of this annual award in his name.”

Alex, formerly of St Mungo’s High School in Falkirk, said: “The apprenticeship programme with Ineos has provided me with various opportunities to learn and develop towards becoming a process technician.

“I have already participated in various projects on-site which have contributed significantly to my overall learning. I have been given the opportunity to gain qualifications which will allow me to progress within the industry.”

Jamie Munro, who attended St Modan’s High School, Stirling, said: “I am very pleased to have been selected as one of the apprentices to have received this award.

“I would like to thank all those people at Forth Valley College and at Ineos for their on-going support and mentorship as I work towards achieving my modern apprentice qualifications.”

Marcus Plevoets, operations director at Ineos, said: “Such is the calibre of this year’s candidates for the George Hall Award that it was impossible to separate these two apprentices.

“It is therefore entirely fitting that in memory of a valued employee, we are presenting this award to both Alex and Jamie.”
