Heritage group aims to stop motor-trespass on cherished Kinneil Estate

Heritage and environment group Friends of Kinneil are urging people to report to police the drivers of vehicles or motorbikes trespassing on to Kinneil Nature Reserve.

These are prohibited along the foreshore as well as in the Reserve - but some are flouting signs which clearly point out the restrictions.

In a social media message, a spokesperson for the group said: “No-one out with their families and enjoying the peaceful environment should have to put up with such behaviour - let alone abuse, aggression or being spattered with mud from trying to stop it!

“In view of this, the general public might be better advised to report discreetly any sightings or incidents to the Police rather than seeking to engage.

“The site is an officially-designated Nature Reserve.

“Damage is also being caused to the pathways and terrain, and it spoils the efforts of many people and volunteers who have done so much to improve the Foreshore and create a pleasant environment for people and wildlife to enjoy”.
