The colourful artwork on four 40ft-long metal containers at Lock 16 are already attracting lots of interest – and they are not yet completed.
Charity Go Forth and Clyde has commissioned the team at D2 Creative in Larbert to paint murals on the containers, thanks to funding from the National Lottery.
Go Forth and Clyde train volunteers to manage the locks for Scottish Canals, move boats, hire out and skipper barges and bikes, as well as maintain bikes.
The charity aims to get people engaged with the life of the canal, from locals to visitors, as well as engaging volunteers who have the opportunity to learn new skills, increase teamwork skills and do meaningful, environmentally friendly work outdoors
Hania Smith from D2 Creative said: “Our design is a reflection of the services Go Forth and Clyde offer with the back drop of the beautiful mature and creatures that live in and around the canal.
"Already we have had amazing engagement from passers-by, admiring as well as volunteering. It looks so eye catching and colourful and not even half finished.
"We are hoping to have it finished by October.”
