Grangemouth school says one last goodbye to staff member who died after contracting COVID-19.

Carrongrange High School support for learning assistant Kathleen, better known as Maureen, McMahon, sadly died from a pulmonary embolism – a blood clot in the lung – aged 64 on March 8. She had become ill after contracting COVID-19.

Her death left her family and friends and colleagues and pupils at the Grangemouth school grief stricken.

At the time of her death a Falkirk Council spokesperson said: “Staff and pupils were saddened to hear of the death of a respected member of staff from Carrongrange High School. Kathleen (Maureen) McMahon was valued by colleagues and loved by the children and young people she supported.

"We offer our deepest sympathy to her family.”

Maureen’s funeral service takes place on Wednesday, March 31 in St Francis Xaviers RC Church, Hope Street, Falkirk at 10am and then moves on to Camelon Cemetery.

Due to current rules, the service will be restricted to family only.

However, those who want to pay their respects to the memory of this much loved lady can do so standing on the route her hearse will take from the church to the cemetery.

Departing from St Francis at approximately at 10.45 am, it will head through Falkirk via the main route to Grangemouth, past Forth Valley College and the Helix Park.

It will then head along Bo'ness Road onto Oxgang Road, stopping at Carrongrange School to give staff, pupils and parents the chance to pay their respects before it continues on to the cemetery.
