Ferry Fair set to sail twice next year

After a vote by the parents of the 2020 Ferry Fair court, there will no longer be an event held in August this year, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Organisers had hoped to hold a stripped-back version of the popular annual South Queensferry celebration, with social distancing measures adhered to, and without the usual array of bands and entertainment.

However, it is hoped this year’s Ferry Fair Court children will not miss out on all the fun, with plans now in place to hold this year’s event in May next year, giving the town two Ferry Fair Days in 2021.

The new chairperson of the Ferry Fair Committee is Tracy Guyan. Speaking about the decision, she said: “At the request of the parents we have decided to postpone the 2020 Ferry Fair until 2021.

“So we’re now putting all our efforts into planning two events next year, the 2020 Court and crowning in May 2021 and the usual Fair in August 2021.

“We are hoping to hold it on the High Street, but, of course, no one has any idea what next year will look like.

“Each event will be held within the rules and regulations set out by the government.”
