Falkirk's movie goers celebrate return of Cineworld
Popular cinema chain Cineworld has announced it will soon be reopening its 127 UK venues – including the Falkirk Central Retail Park multiplex – after a long six months absence from big screen entertainment.
Cineworld, which closed its doors in October last year, now plans to reopen in May in line with government guidelines.
A deal has also been struck with Warner Bros that gives the cinema chain exclusive rights to show films over streaming services.
This means Cineworld will be able to show Warner Bros’ films exclusively in its cinemas 31 days prior to them being made available on premium video on demand platforms for streaming at home.
Mooky Greidinger, Cineworld chief executive, said: “We have long-awaited this moment when we can welcome audiences back to theatres and restore our essential role within the communities we serve.
“We will also be monitoring developments closely in the UK as we set to gradually reopen across the world in line with local government guidance.”
