Two colleagues in a fragrance department have retired after notching up over 80 years service between them.
Mhairi Philip worked in Boots High Street store since it opened in 1976, while Isabel Quilietti was with the company for almost 46 years.
They have now decided its time to spend more time with their families and have quit the jobs they loved.
But the pair both admit to missing all their colleagues, around 80 of whom turned out for their retirement celebrations in the Park Hotel.
Reflecting on her 29 years, Mhairi (70) said: “When I started it was supposed to be for six months but I never left.
“The last 10 years were spent in the fragrance department. The reason Isabel and I stayed so long was the wonderful people we worked with and we had an absolutely terrific boss in Donna Struthers.”
Married to Jim, the couple live in Larbert and have two children, Mhairi and Steven, and four grandchildren, Philip (25), Jordan (22), Sophie (21) and Connor (18).
Isabel (72) has not only left Boots but has quit her hometown of Falkirk to move to Northern Ireland to be near daughter Lorna.
She said: “She lives here and my son Colin is in Warwickshire so the girls in Boots were my Falkirk family – and I miss them so much.
“I was very fortunate over the years to do a job that I found so rewarding and all this free time is taking a bit of getting used to.”
After spending 22 years in the fragrance department, she is now looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren – Nikki (28), Eilidh (23), Liam (21), Carli (19) and Ciara (18).
