Last year’s initiative managed to coin in over £15,000 and saw Round Table members join Santa to collect cash door to door over a number of nights.

This year, with the current coronavirus restrictions, Santa and his sleigh will still be able to travel the streets, but his helpers will not be able to knock on doors to coin in generous donations.

In the third week it will visit Bainsford and Langlees (Monday, December 14), Bantaskine (Tuesday, December 15), Middlefield (Wednesday, December 16) and The Bog (Thursday, December 17).

Falkirk Round Table added: “Please remember we cannot allow kids to come within two metres of the sleigh and we are also prohibited from stopping – so if Santa does miss your waves it’s not on purpose.”

As well as the Santa Sleigh routes, Falkirk Round Table is launching the Run/Walk 5K Challenge, where people can donate £5 to the Round Table’s Just Giving page and then nominate five people of their choosing to complete the challenge.According to the Round Table, Santa himself has nominated Falkirk Round Table chairman Gregor McDonald, Falkirk FC managers Lee Miller and David McCracken, Strathcarron business development fundraiser Claire MacDonald and Falkirk Council opposition leader Councillor Robert Bissett.

This year all the funds raised will be going to help Strathcarron Hospice, Falkirk Food Bank, and Falkirk Mental Health Association (FDAMH).
