Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald raised a motion in Holyrood congratulating the Bairns icon, who guided his boyhood team to their first cup final for 40 years in 1997.
Known among fans as Mr Falkirk, the 74-year-old has been involved with the club’s commercial team for around two decades.

“Falkirk is my club. I've supported them, played for them and managed them, and I'm very proud to receive this role and I want to thank the chairman and directors.”
Mr MacDonald, of the SNP, felt it was fitting to recognise Totten’s dedication to the club, and to the town of Falkirk, over the years.
He said: “Football has the ability to bring communities together and I remember the atmosphere around the area whenever the Bairns had a run to a cup final, or were being crowned with success in the leagues.

“They don’t come with a better reputation with fans and players, past and present, alike, and it was a natural step to recognise Alex’s commitment to the club and his positive impact on the Bairns family over the years.
“From my point of view, I’d like to thank Alex for his dedication, welcoming him to his new role as Lifetime Ambassador and wish him, and the club, the very best for the future.”
