Transport Scotland’s listed building consent application to demolish a section of the historic Kincardine Bridge has been given the go ahead.

Having been granted permission by council planners under delegated powers on February 26, Transport Scotland will now be able to demolish and then reconstruct as section of piled viaduct, construct a temporary Bridge, replace a safety barrier, refurbish timber jetties, replace the bridge drainage system, instal navigation lights and carry out general maintenance.

Kincardine Bridge opened in 1936 as a road crossing over the Firth of Forth.
