This temporary move comes after Falkirk Council confirmed its blue (plastics and cans) and burgundy (card) bins uplift services have now been suspended.

After yesterday evening’s confusion over whether or not the two services were still active, the council’s website has now changed the status of the blue and burgundy bin uplifts to “suspended”.

However, from Monday, March 30 the local authority will allow residents to present two extra bin bags alongside their green bin when they put it out for collection.

Referring to the green bin collection, the council website stated: “This is a priority collection service. Please put your green bin out for collection for 6.30am as per your collection schedule. Be aware that collection times may vary.

“Given the need to suspend other collections, from Monday, March 30 households can present for collection up to two bin bags worth of waste along with the green bin.”

The council website stated this current measure will remain under review.
