Last night The Falkirk Herald published a story online stating that, according to the Falkirk Council website at that time, the blue and burgundy bin uplift services could be back on because their status had been changed from “suspended” to “disrupted”.
Blue and Burgundy bin uplift dates also appeared on resident’s online bin uplift calendars, adding to the general confusion.

Hide AdCecil Meiklejohn contacted The Falkirk Herald today stating the council website had changed the status, but the fact was the blue and burgundy bins were still suspended.
Councillor Meiklejohn said: “They changed it but there is no burgundy or blue bin collections – it will, however, be kept under review and should resources become available there may be an ability for localised collections and that's why people have been asked to check the website.”
Last night Councillor Paul Garner, the council’s environment spokesman, published a post on social media stating The Falkirk Herald had given people the wrong information.
In his post he said: “We have taken the difficult decision to suspend the uplifts of the recyclable material collected in the blue and burgundy bins. These will return as soon as we can.”

Hide AdCouncillor Garner has not yet responded to The Falkirk Herald’s request for him to clarify the situation and to confirm it was the council’s website which contained the wrong information.
One angry Grangemouth resident said: “It’s like the left hand at the council doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, but they better sort it out now and get the right information on their website because these are people’s lives they are messing around with.”
The council’s website still had the blue and burgundy bin uplifts listed as “disrupted” and not suspended as of 11am this morning.
