Beancross Primary School, in Kenilworth Street, Grangemouth, has been selected to receive £1000 from the firm’s Community Champions scheme to support its new Grab and Go Gazebo initiative that provides a free breakfast for its pupils.

Marnie Forster, of Beancross Primary School’s learning tea, said: “We are thrilled to receive this donation from Persimmon Homes. The closure of our breakfast club due to COVID-19 restrictions prompted us to look for alternative ways to provide breakfast without exposing the children to any kind of risk.

“Our Grab and Go Gazebo has been very popular with our pupils and we are very keen to keep the initiative running for as long as we can. We rely heavily on the generosity of community groups and supermarkets to keep us going, but fear that further COVID-19 restrictions will make it even harder to keep our free breakfast service running for the children.”

Persimmon Homes sales director Laura Still said the firm was more than glad to help.

She added: “In these difficult times it is reassuring that schools are thinking outside the box to offer breakfasts for the children and ease some of the financial burden for parents. We were delighted to handover the funds and wish them well.

“This is exactly what our Community Champions scheme is all about, supporting good causes in the communities that we are working. I really encourage any charities and groups looking for funding to apply to the scheme for their chance to receive up to £1000 match-funding for their own cause.”
