Jilly Webster was chosen to compete in a competition on Capital Scotland FM to win a VIP package to see Lewis Capaldi at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow last week.

The 44-year-old went head to head against another listener to answer three questions correctly, and it was Jilly who won the tie break to go into the final on the Friday.

And after answering another three questions correctly in the final, the secondary school teacher bagged the prize.

Jilly said: “The radio station said they would quite like a big reaction from the winner. My sister Nina was with me as moral support and when I won I jumped up screaming and so did she, and I dropped my phone and cut them off.

“They said it wasn’t quite the reaction they had expected!”

Jilly and her sister, Nina Rutherford, made the trip to Glasgow last Thursday for the VIP experience, which included the chance to listen to his sound check, watch the gig from a box at the venue and an overnight stay. Jilly also received a signed copy of his album on vinyl.

But the ladies were unexpectedly given the chance to meet the singer songwriter on the day.

Jilly said: “I’m not a massive fan. I did like him and enjoyed reading what he had put on Twitter, but now having been at the concert I’m more of a fan.

“It was absolutely amazing. We had the chance to sit in on 20 minutes of his sound check.

“The meet and greet wasn’t actually planned, but he decided to come and meet us. It was an added extra. He was great.

“It was really good. Even just sitting in the box was brilliant.

“I never want to go back to sitting in the auditorium!

“My sister and I are both on maternity leave at the moment, our little ones were born a week apart, so it was a mum’s night out for us.”
