Bo'ness Library gets green light to build stair lift

Falkirk Council has given the go ahead for major alterations at Bo’ness Library including the installation of a new door and a platform lift and stair lift to give access to wheelchair users.

Permission was been granted on May 7 for the work to go ahead at the Scotland’s Close premises.

The planning documents stated: “The building is on several levels accessed by way of internal ramps and stairs and this proposal, through a new platform lift and a single stair lift, will open the spaces up for all.

"The proposal will include replacement of the ageing boilers and rationalisation of the plant room space. Due to building constraints, this will require the need for new external wall.

“The aim is to provide a more practical upper space from both an accessibility and out of hours point of view. The existing library entrance will be unaffected by the works and this will bring new life and enhance the community use of the library.”
