THE PREGNANCY: Mum said the pregnancy was difficult as she suffered severe morning sickness and extreme fatigue throughout. At a 16-week private gender scan the couple found out Payton had Gastroschisis and so had to have weekly appointments to monitor her bowel and growth.

THE BIRTH: Payton was born by emergency c-section and as soon as she was born she was taken to theatre. Mum and dad couldn’t see her until 11pm that night in NICU. They were told she had a complex case of Gastroschisis and might not survive and if she did there could be severe complications. After a difficult start Payton has defied the odds that were against her.

THE NAME: Mum and dad had a couple of names in mind, but as soon as they saw her Payton just felt right.

THE BABY:Payton is a happy, content and very alert baby. She is forever smiling and laughing. She loves playing, story time and watching Piers Morgan in the morning.
