Baby of the week: Falkirk Bairn Alfie Britcliffe

THE FAMILY: Mum Hazel Britcliffe (33), is a beauty advisor in Boots, while dad Joe Britcliffe (34) is a chef in a local golf club. Alfie’s proud, and protective, big brother is Oscar (5). The family live in Falkirk.

THE PREGNANCY: Mum says the pregnancy was okay but she suffered from pelvic problems throughout which made it hard at times.

THE BIRTH: Alfie was delivered by planned emergency c-section. Everything went okay apart from a big blood loss during the birth but mum recovered well after.

THE NAME: It was on mum and dad’s shortlist and they just really liked it. They think he will be a wee cheeky chappy and it suits him well.

THE BABY: Alfie is very smiley, cheeky and a generally happy and content wee baby.

THE GRANDPARENTS: The proud grandparents are Moira and Iain Gray, Bernard Richards and Carol and Brian Britcliffe.

THANKS: The couple would like to thank all the staff nurses and midwives at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and special thanks to grandma Carol for helping out with Oscar while mummy and daddy were in hospital with Alfie.
