This will provide a much-needed facility for severely disabled individuals across Scotland, making everyone feel welcome.

Margaret Bradie, Asda Falkirk community champion, said: “I was delighted to surprise Bailliefields Community Hub SCIO with a cheque for £7500 from the Asda Foundation. It is an incredible local initiative that strives to provide a community hub that welcomes all members of the community, working together to improve the area for everyone.

“They work with various charities and schools including Alzheimer Scotland, Scottish Association for Mental Health, Forth Valley Disability Sports and young adults from Braes High School who have been excluded from school and looking to experience different pathways.

"We worked together last year to organise a family fun day as we emerged from lockdown, and I am very excited to develop our partnership and watch the hub come to life.”

Graham Thomson, trustee of Bailliefields Community Hub SCIO, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding from Asda Foundation and pleased to work with them again. This money will be a significant contribution to our project to develop our new community space in the Brightons area.

“The new building will allow us to extend and enhance the work that we already carry out with various organisations within our local community. Being able to provide this physical space to work with these organisations will be a significant step forward for us as we seek to create ‘A place for all’.”

The grant is part of Asda Foundation investment of £750k in 60 local community groups and charities across the UK.
