Mountain Talk

John Allen (MBE) will speak about the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team at the Stirling Rugby and Football Club, Bridgehaugh, Stirling, on Thursday, January 8 at 8 p.m. Entrance is free of charge. For over 30 years John Allen was an active member of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team and for most of them acted as team leader. He will talk about his time with the CMRT and discuss mountain safety and causes of mountain accidents. In 2009 John Allen published a book called ‘Cairngorm John: A Life in Mountain Rescue’ (his call sign when in contact with search and rescue helicopters) in which he recalls the challenges of mountain rescue and the many changes he has both witnessed and been a party to.
