Linlithgow Loch- A spectacular area for a walk. Braveheart meet every Sunday, 1.30pm at the St Ninian’s way car park to set off for a gentle one hour walk around the Loch, and not forgetting going to the cafe afterwards for a cuppa! Stirling and Falkirk District Ramblers. Please note that the walk on Sunday, August 16, has changed from the walk in the programme. We are now doing the walk originally planned for the following Thursday which is “A Ramble Around the Lomonds”, following a circular route on the lower slopes of West and East Lomond using paths and tracks. Grade C+: 8mls/5hrs: Ascent 500ft. Meet at Linden Avenue Car Park, Stirling at 9.30am or start of walk at Craigmead Car Park at 10.30am OS: 58 GR: NO227063. Non members welcome. Carron Valley and District Community Open Day: The Valley Renewables Group - the Development Trust for Carron Valley and District – is holding its annual community open day on Saturday, August 29 from noon - 4.00pm at the new venue Craigend Farm. There will be a variety of stalls on the theme ‘Growing, Creating and Sustaining’ including latest in biomass, energy conservation, wildflower planting, local arts crafts and produce, history and heritage of the district, and growing for food. There will be children’s entertainment, and a free barbecue. There will be talks on insulating traditional buildings, bee-keeping for beginners, growing vegetables locally and keeping chickens. All welcome.
