Did you enjoy pancakes on Tuesday? I did!

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday which means we’re now in the season known as Lent.

Lent lasts for 40 days, Ash Wednesday until Holy Saturday, the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It’s traditionally a time of preparation, of fasting and prayer, and in some ways Spring cleaning our lives and our thoughts in the way that many of us spring clean our homes. It’s an opportunity to examine our lives and get rid of the stuff that clogs us up; things we stuff away in the back of our thoughts to deal with another day; the old hurts, the fears, the same negative thoughts but that make it difficult for us to hear God and answer His call.

And it’s a time, when looking forward to Easter; we remember all that God has done for us through Christ, His death and resurrection.

God loves us, wants the very best for us – life in all its fullness, that’s why He came,

lived this life, in all of its harsh realities, the highs and lows, and that’s why He died the most horrific death at the cruel hands of others - just because He loves you and offers you a new beginning in Him.

Perhaps during the next 40 days you might do some spring cleaning in your life?

What might you want to get rid of, what might you want to make space for?
