Text of the week

'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths'. Proverbs 3 v.5

At the end of May, we travelled on the East Coast line to Peterborough. At one point in the journey, the steward gave everyone a small gold cardboard disc with these words on it “in Richard we trust”. My husband is Richard and yes, there are certain things I trust him to accomplish – bleeding the radiators, fixing the car and all plumbing and electrical work.

“In God we trust” was re-affirmed as the official motto of the USA in 2006 and these words appear on the back of their twenty dollar bill. Trusting in God is also at the centre of my Text of the Week.

We need to do the trusting and there will be rewards following. If we acknowledge God, whether as creator or the one who forgives us, He has promiseto direct our way. There are always times in our lives when we need direction and God promises to do that for us.

I began with rail tracks and trust in Richard Branson. I am ending by quoting my text again but this time from The Message translation.

“Trust in God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do and everywhere you go. He’s the one who will keep you on track.”
