In her book ‘A Book of Silence’ the author Sara Maitland writes, “We all live very noisy lives.

“Take time to listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God.”

Maitland had discovered that God dwelt within her and to hear his voice meant setting aside time for peace, quietness and solitude.

So often our search for God can become complicated and demanding, but when we realise that God dwells within us we find

his voice echoing through our hopes and dreams, visions and longings.

God’s voice is always the voice of love, justice, kindness and compassion and conveys the deepest sense of peace

and quiet.

So, as the season of summer moves into autumn let us take some quiet time to listen to God who dwells within us and longs for us to recognise his voice of love.

Be still for the presence of the Lord.
