'˜All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.' (John 6:37)

I heard this phrase the other day and I loved it: Jesus welcomes us all to the table, even if we haven’t washed our hands yet.

I was immediately reminded of the verse above in the Gospel of John.

In reality and according to Jewish law, none of us would be fit to come to the feet of Jesus, Romans 3:23 All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

But Jesus made a way, through his death on the cross, all of us can boldly approach the throne of God even if our hands are dirty!

Let’s be honest, all of us bring mess, chaos, dirt and sin as our baggage. I probably bring more than most.

As awesome as that is the challenge though is for us to not to get above our stations, think we are better than anyone else or that we look down on people and think they are not worthy to come to church or be included.

I am always reminded of the Pharisee Luke 7 He was looking down on the women who was anointing Jesus with oil, tears and her hair, thinking “if only he new the type of women she was” - What about him? What type of man was he?

The simple answer - sinner in need of grace, just like you and me. We are all in the same boat.

Let’s love those who hands are dirtier than ours as Jesus does.

Amen
