“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.’” (John 14:6)
Philosophers have long debated over “what is the good life?” Maybe you have too. Perhaps you have wondered if there is “absolute truth” in these days of “shared values”. Perhaps you have asked “what is the purpose of life?” These are big questions, and very important ones.
It has been said that the two most important days in our lives are the day we were born and the day we understood why! If we don’t discover the meaning of life, we miss the point of being here.
Rick Warren’s Book “The purpose Driven Life” is a good place to start. An even
better place to start is the Bible itself. After all, if the Bible is true, and I believe it is, then Jesus, God in the flesh, came to show us how to live.
The best one to ask about anything, is the one who designed it in the first place.
I like the writings of Dr Ravi Zacharias. He says that people’s worldview should answer four basic questions. 1) Origin – where did I come from/what does it mean to be human? 2) Meaning – Is there a purpose? 3) Mortality – Is there a right and wrong? and 4) Destiny – where am I headed?
Our text tells points us to the uniqueness of Jesus. He came to show the way and to die on the cross for our sins, because of His love for us. I think someone who loves us that much, is worth following.
He has certainly answered the big questions for me.
