‘Blessed are all who fear the Lord, Who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labour; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots round your table.’ (Psalm 128)

This week my wife and I will celebrate our 44th Wedding Anniversary and we are grateful to God for being with us every step of the way. Yes, there have been ups and downs along the way, but the highs have been spectacular peaking with the birth of our three children and seeing them experiencing the same joy in married life.

Both of us have experienced the benefits of a rural upbringing and have enjoyed outdoor pursuits such as hill walking and gardening.

It is important in any relationship, particularly with those close to us that the commitment together is clearly founded in a close walk with God.

That comes first with a personal decision to follow Jesus.

In Psalm 128 we see the virtues of being in a strong relationship. But it

requires a commitment to walk with God, work for God and be fruitful for God.
