‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever.’ (Hebrews 13:8)
Change is sometimes expected but often unexpected.
Once the First Minister had announced he would be resigning as his party’s leader, change was expected.
A headline in the Falkirk Herald of November 20 was ‘Big changes on the buses as routes go.’
Any Bairns returning to the area after some years would see many changes to the landscape, the Kelpies being the most recent.
The writer to the Hebrews in this verse speaks of One who doesn’t change.
As God, He doesn’t need to change His mind because He is always right, His love doesn’t change, His hatred of sin doesn’t change.
Because God doesn’t change, we can rely on Him, we can claim His promises, we can trust Him to save us from the penalty of our sins; none of these have been rescinded.
So in a world of change, make sure that the God who doesn’t change is your God.
