Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 (NIV - Anglicised)

The other day I had to repair a cupboard in the kitchen. A mouse hole had appeared. I needed a torch to help me see just where the hole was and how much wood there was round about it.

We have a torch hanging up on the kitchen door, but it had not been used for months. When I came to use it, I found its batteries were flat. To get the torch to work, I needed to replace them.

The torch was there for an emergency, but when one came, it was useless.

Sometimes we look for a guide in life. We find issues coming up and we wish we knew the best approach.

We feel the need, if I can put it this way, of some light to guide in life.

The Psalmist knew where he would get his guiding light from. It was the Word of God.

The basic truths such as the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount are still relevant today.

What is your guide to life, especially in a crisis? Do you know where to find help?

Will that help you seek end up like a torch with flat batteries?
